Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! What a great first week at CFMS! It has been wonderful to see our hallways and classrooms filled with so many familiar and new faces. Our students and staff have jumped right in, and I am excited about the year ahead!
September is Attendance Awareness Month, making it a great time to establish routines that help students start the year strong. Being at school consistently helps students learn, build relationships, and stay connected. Of course, we understand that kids get sick, appointments happen, and life sometimes gets in the way. Our goal isn't perfection, it's being here whenever possible. If your child will be absent, please use the Infinite Campus app to report the absence by following the directions below.
I also know that the beginning of the school year can be exhausting for families. As a parent in a household with two educators and kids in 2nd, 7th, and 8th grade, I understand! Give yourself and your kids some grace. Focus on the basics: routines, sleep, organization, healthy meals, and a little time to decompress. We don't always get it right, and that's okay!
Remember, you don't have to navigate middle school alone. Our staff are amazing and care deeply about your children. Please reach out anytime you have a question or concern.
Our school district's mega result is:
All students will graduate prepared with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to achieve their personal goals and make a positive impact in the world.
Our CFMS staff are dedicated to making this happen for every student.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We couldn't do this without your support, and we are truly grateful for all you do.
Go Cardinals!

Family/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22, and Tuesday, October 27, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Please look for a message from your child's team on the week of October 13 with more information regarding your child's team conference format and individual signups.
Encore Open House
All of our encore teachers (physical education, technology education, family and consumer sciences, music, art, agriculture, and world languages) will be available in an open house format on the nights of conferences. Please stop in, chat with those teachers, and check out those areas. If you are requesting an individual conference with any of these teachers, please contact them.
CFMS School Store
We're thrilled to share that our student-run Middle School Store, "The Nest," will be open during conferences! This is a fantastic chance for families to check out our selection of school spirit items, and we will also have slushies available. Whether you want to show your school pride or just need a pick-me-up during the conferences, we've got you covered!

Student Photos
Strawbridge Studios will be taking Fall Photos on 09/10/2026.
Photo packages are available by pre-order through Strawbridge.net using your school's code: FM502178
Pre-ordering offers the lowest package prices and allows families to purchase before viewing their student's photos. If you prefer to pay by cash or check, paper order forms will be available at the school on picture day.
Families may place orders through 09/15/2026 with free shipping. After this date, the school code will no longer be valid. Parents will then need to wait for their student's personalized access code, which will be distributed with proofs and photo packages. Orders placed at that time will include a $7 shipping fee.
Strawbridge Studios stands behind every portrait with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your child's photo, they may have a retake taken at no additional charge.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to either Customer Service at (866) 624-6229, by email at cservice@Strawbridge.net or by using the chat feature on Strawbridge.net or by contacting your local representative Tracy Cochran at tracy.cochran@strawbridge.net.
We look forward to seeing your smiling faces!

Parents are required to notify the school when their child is absent. Notification should occur no later than the end of the day on the day of the absence and must include the reason for the absence.
If your child is absent and we have not received notification, you will receive an automated voice message and/or e-mail referencing the absence. If for some reason, parents are unable to call school, the student must bring a note of explanation upon returning.
STUDENTS ARRIVING LATE
Students who arrive late need to report to the main office area (door 2 which is the flagpole door) to obtain an entry pass to class. Parents must notify the school whenever their child will arrive later than 8:21 a.m. Notification on the attendance line should include estimated arrival time and the reason for the late arrival.
STUDENTS LEAVING EARLY
Students who need to leave school during the school day need an Off-Campus Pass. Notification on the attendance line should include the time your child needs to leave school, the time that they will return, and the reason they will be gone.
The release time will be entered in Infinite Campus, which will assist teachers with knowing that a call has been received and the student needs to be dismissed during that class period. Upon their return, students need to report to the main office to check in with an office secretary, so they can be issued a pass to class. Please be assured if you have contacted the school, your child will be notified.

Absent? Need to Request Homework?
Make-up work is the responsibility of the student. Upon returning to school, students must contact teachers for make-up work. In typical situations, the number of days given to make up the work is equal to the number of days absent.
Students should refer to the Weekly Teacher Lesson Plans document and Google Classroom until reaching the three day threshold required to request homework be gathered for them.
When an absence does reach three consecutive days, guardians may contact Mrs. Bowe in the Grade Level Office to request assignments be gathered for the student to do at home. If the student is going out of town for an extended period of time, the student is responsible for requesting homework from their teachers prior. Guardians must notify the Grade Level Office at least 2 days in advance of the future absence to ensure teachers have adequate time to provide homework to the student.
Mrs. Bowe can be reached at boweaj@chipfalls.org or 715-726-2400 ex. 2249 to request homework.

SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
Please make sure that Infinite Campus information is up to date and includes a list of people to contact in case a child needs to be picked up during the school day.
The Chippewa Falls Middle School primarily communicates with parents and/or guardians electronically. All parents and guardians who receive school information electronically must have their parent portal in Infinite Campus set up in order to access report cards, schedules, homework assignments, grades, attendance, fee statements, etc. We are pleased to offer parents this opportunity to be more active in their child’s education.
If you do not have your parent portal account setup, please follow the guidelines below to setup your account. We discourage the use of your child’s account as you won’t have access to the necessary information you may need or want.
Please make sure that your e-mail address is kept current at all times on the parent portal. You may update your email address at any time by selecting Contact Preferences on the parent portal menu. If at any time during the school year you lose the ability to access the internet, please notify the appropriate grade level office immediately so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our database.
You can also make lunch account, school and athletic fee payments in the Infinite Campus Portal. There will be no convenience fees added. If you need help, call our help desk at 715-726-2413 for assistance.

We are launching our "Community Conversation 2026" to gather feedback that will help shape our next three-year strategic plan. We want to make sure our schools are serving our students and community as well as possible, and we cannot do that without our CFAUSD families and community members’ input.
You can choose one of three ways to share your thoughts, based on whichever option is most convenient and works best with your schedule:
-
Take our brief survey right now: It only takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
-
Request an Interview with one of our team members. Submit this request form and someone will reach out to you to schedule a time convenient for you.
-
Join a Mini-Session: We are hosting short, interactive drop-in meetings throughout the community where we can talk directly about our future. Upcoming sessions include:
-
September 8: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Halmstad Elementary School Gym
-
September 10: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Chippewa Falls Middle School Cafeteria
-
September 14: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Jim Falls Elementary School Gym
-
September 17: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Chippewa Falls High School Cafeteria
-
September 30: 10:00 AM –12:00 PM at Chippewa Falls YMCA Community Room
Thank you for your partnership, your time, and your commitment to the success of our students. You can find out more about this process, past Community Conversations, and the results of our last strategic plan on THIS webpage.”
